The winner of the 2018 Breakfast For Champions Live Auction bid on the VIA Rail Canada Promotional Travel Voucher recently shared her family travel experience and the great blessing that it was.

“With the 2019 Breakfast For Champions approaching, I wanted to take the time to share my experience as winner of the 2018 Breakfast of Champions $1,500.00 Via Rail Voucher”, says Roxanne Bond.

“I have a physically challenged 20-year-old grandson,” Bond continues, “who is somewhat difficult to travel with on long car journeys. Taking the VIA Rail Canada train from Brantford, Ontario to Moncton, New Brunswick worked out wonderful for us, as he was able to sit in an accessible seat next to an accessible washroom. This made it easier for him to relax and not feel like a burden on the rest of us. The VIA Rail staff were wonderful to work with. They helped at every transfer and made sure he got to the gate safely and on time for the next train.”

The VIA Rail Canada free chaperone policy allowed Bond to take her granddaughter and cousin with them.  “We stayed with an aunt and uncle in New Brunswick, who were thrilled that I could bring their grandson down with me. During our visit we were able to experience so many things that we would not have been able to do if not for the savings and accessibility of getting there.”

Even with all of the travel Bond and her family were able to do with the travel voucher, they still had enough money left on the voucher for she and her husband and granddaughter to take the train to Ottawa twice to see a hockey game, all thanks to a wonderful staff personnel at the  Brantford terminal, who made sure that the voucher went as far as it could go.

Bond expressed her gratitude for all that this voucher meant to her and her family.  “Thank you to the staff at Brant Food for Thought for your hard work in making things like this happen and thank you to VIA Rail Canada for being a partner that makes these experiences possible.”
