Toonies For Tummies, returns February 9-23. YOUR TOONIES ARE MAKING AN IMPACT IN THE LIVES OF CHILDREN IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOODS. 100% of Toonies raised in Brantford stores goes to Brant Food For Thought, to support the purchase of nutritious foods for student nutrition programs in Brantford.
In fact, nutrition programs can be found in all corners of the province. The good news: research shows they are having a tremendous positive impact benefitting elementary and high school students.
Among the benefits we’re seeing are improvements in academics, in behaviour and on graduation rates. Students attending these programs are also learning about nutrition which is also vital to life-long healthy eating and wellness.
For the 2016-2017 school year, The Grocery Foundation and their Toonies For Tummies Campaign 2016 have contributed a combined total of $16,909 in cash and gift cards to support healthy breakfasts and nutritious snacks in Brantford schools through Brant Food For Thought. In addition, The Grocery Foundation has provided our programs with access to $12,000 worth of grocery vouchers, which translates into an in-kind savings of $6,000 in food costs for our programs.
Michelle Scott, Executive Director of The Grocery Foundation, expresses her thanks “to campaign sponsors and the public who support Toonies for Tummies”. Scott goes on to say that, “The Grocery Foundation is helping feed brighter futures for many children”, including children and youth in Brantford schools. “With your donation of as little as a toonie in-store, or online, you are actively joining a growing community of parents, educators, companies, and advocates for student nutrition. On behalf of all of these partners and of course, on behalf of the children who reap the benefits of our support and generosity – THANK YOU!”
The 2017 Toonies for Tummies (@groceryfndtn #toonies4tummies) campaign will take place February 9-23. To view this year’s campaign video, click here.
Brantford retail grocery stores, including Metro St. Paul Avenue, Food Basics King George Road and Food Basics Lynden Park Mall, are long-time supporters of the campaign.
The Grocery Foundation is looking to raise $850K in Ontario and in Western Canada through participating retailers and online donations. All (100%) of the proceeds and funds collected will be allocated back into the local community where the donation is made. The Foundation invites you to track your toonie at www.tooniesfortummies.ca. You can also engage with The Foundation on twitter @groceryfndtn and on Facebook at .facebook.com/groceryfoundation.
Brant Food For Thought would like to thank you in advance for your support of the 2017 Toonies For Tummies Campaign. Help us support the children and youth of our community. A toonie really does make a difference!
