The 2019 Grocery Foundation “Toonies For Tummies Challenge” is gearing up for another successful campaign.  From February 7 until the 21st, every toonie raised in our local Metro and Food Basics grocery stores will support Brant Food For Thought and universal student nutrition programs in Brantford and Brant, administered through Student Nutrition Ontario.  February 9th and 16th are “Matching Funds Days” where your Toonie will earn double for nutrition programs!

Every Toonie counts!  We know that small change can make a BIG change.

The goal of The Grocery Foundation is to raise $1.2 million to help provide nutritious meals to students across Western Canada and Ontario.  With the support of retailers, sponsor brands and the kindness of shoppers at the till, they will reach their goal and make a tremendous difference for students in our community.  Last year, student nutrition programs supported by Brant Food For Thought received $16,390 to purchase nutritious foods and equipment to support their programs.

Since 1998, Brant Food For Thought has been contributing to a child’s ability to learn by supporting and facilitating health breakfast and nutritious snack programs for all students participating in a local nutrition program.  Over 10,000 students in this area will benefit from close to 1.3 million healthy snacks and meals during the school year alone.  We couldn’t do this without the dedication and contributions of more than 700 educational professionals, parents and community volunteers who plan menus, purchase nutritious foods, prepare healthy breakfasts and snacks for distribution to students for a great start to their school day.

So this February 7 – 21, take the #ToonieChallenge.  Shop at your local Metro St. Paul Avenue and Food Basics King George Road and Lynden Park Mall stores.  Let your Toonie make a difference for students in this community.  Remember, small change does make a BIG change.  Thank you in advance for your support!
