From June until November 1, 2016, Energy+ Inc. has been encouraging customers to make the switch to paperless billing and lending their support to two local charities in their service territory:  Nutrition For Learning in Waterloo and Brant Food For Thought.

For every residential and business customer that registered for ebilling, Energy+ Inc. made a $2 donation to support student nutrition programs in Waterloo and Brant.  And Energy+, along with 545 friends did just that.  With their donation of $1,090 for Brant, Energy+ is able to support 15 students with a nutritious breakfast or healthy snack 3 to 5 days a week for the remainder of the school year.

The move to paperless billing makes good business sense, according to Ian Miles, Energy+ President and CEO.

“From a business perspective, paperless billing helps reduce our monthly operating costs and lessens our environmental impact.”

Miles continued by saying that, “from a community perspective, we are pleased to support the children living in our communities, so that they are able to go to school well-nourished and ready to learn.”

Brant Food For Thought is a non-profit organization, but can be more easily defined as a “social profit organization.”

“When you invest in children and youth by contributing to their ability to learn, it’s time and money well spent, ” says Gisèle Budgell, Program Director at Brant Food For Thought.  “Not only are you making a difference now to help students learn to their full potential while in school, but you are contributing to their future success.”

Budgell is grateful to community partners, like Energy+ Inc., who are helping Brant Food For Thought ensure a brighter future for all our students.  And thank you to our 545 friends who signed up for paperless billing to make a difference for a child in their community!
