The Brantford Blast organization has generously provided the opportunity to showcase Brant Food For Thought at their Reliant Climate Control game tonight Friday January 22, 2016 at the Brantford and District Civic Centre. Doors open at 6:30 pm, the game starts at 7:30 pm. Our thanks to owner Peter Ham and the whole Blast family for generously inviting our program volunteers to attend the game as their guests and providing this opportunity to showcase our newest initiative in community schools.

We are excited to launch our school milk pilot “Moo to You” in local schools serving milk once a week to 1,400 students. Visit our display to meet our “Moo to You” mascot and pick up a cowbell to help us make some noise during the game. This initiative is made possible in part by funding from the Grocery Foundation, administered regionally by Haldimand Norfolk R.E.A.C.H. and by corporate funding from FirstOntario Credit Union. The milk pilot project is contributing to the healthy development of our children by supplying a serving of milk weekly to students in nine local schools. Milk plays an important role in an overall balanced diet, and provides 16 essential nutrients that contribute to the quality of our everyday diet.

Since 1998, Brant Food For Thought has supported student nutrition programs in local elementary and secondary schools. This year alone over 450 dedicated volunteers with 53 nutrition programs will provide over 1.2 million healthy snacks and meals to 9,629 students in our school communities.
