“Healthy eating starts here!” That’s the motto of the Metro Green Apple School Program. Their goal is to encourage Ontario students to adopt healthy eating habits by participating in a project that will have a positive impact on their home, school or community.
Annually, Metro invests $500,000 by awarding $1,000 grants to elementary and secondary schools in Ontario. And recently, Brantford schools received a total of $12,000 for their unique projects encouraging healthy eating at school.
The following Brantford schools were the successful recipients of $1,000 each for the 2016-2017 school year:

Brier Park Public School – Brier Park Healthy Kids Nutrition Program
Grand Erie Learning Alternatives – Healthy Lunch = Healthy Mind
North Park Collegiate – Special Education students supporting NPC Snack Shack Breakfast Program
North Park Collegiate – Healthy Plate Project
Prince Charles Public School – Healthy Smoothies Project
Princess Elizabeth Public School – Breakfast Buddies
St. Theresa School – St. Theresa’s Junior Chefs
Woodman-Cainsville Public School – Healthy Snacks At School and At Home
